About Us
We are a voluntary organisation based in Ireland and our aim is to help dogs in the Irish pounds. Our main focus is to help the restricted breeds, but we will also help any other dog in danger.
The restricted breeds in Ireland are:
• American Pit Bull Terrier
• Bull Mastiff
• Doberman Pinscher
• English Bull Terrier
• German Shepherd ( Alsatian)
• Japanese Akita
• Japanese Tosa
• Rhodesian Ridgeback
• Rottweiler
• Staffordshire Bull Terrier
• Ban dog
Our strategy
We are planning to achieve our objectives by taking the dogs out the pound and placing them in temporary foster homes or kennels, where the dogs will be neutered and vaccinated, and then send them out to a rescue organisation which will be responsible for finding a new home for the dog. We will also make any possible effort in finding the dog’s owner before sending the dog to the rescue.
Communication – Usage of the forum
We learned from Ben’s tragedy how communicating plays a key role in saving as many dogs as possible. The objective of this forum is to facilitate the communication between our organisation and anyone who wants to help us. We also want to give our supporters a place where they can freely communicate and share information in an open and honest way. Please remember this when you are using this forum.
Pounds
We need to establish good relationships with the pounds management and we hope that we can work with as many pounds as possible. We will make contact with the pound and explain who we are and what do we want to do. Hopefully our intervention to save dogs will be welcomed by everyone and will contribute to a lower destruction rate for these pounds.
Fostering
We appeal for anyone who can offer a foster home for the dogs that we will take out the pound. Our organisation will cover any cost involved with the dog, including neutering and vaccination. Fostering will usually be for a minimum of 2 weeks and we don’t believe in long term fostering, except in extreme circumstances. Our emphasis is on getting dogs out of the pound, neutered and vaccinated and out to rescue as soon as possible. Please use the specific section of the site to express your interest in helping us.
Rescues
We also appeal for rescues to come forward as the more rescues we work with, the more dogs we can save. For these reasons we will put most of our efforts into building and maintaining good relationships with as many rescues as possible.
Our appeal is for rescue organisations in Ireland, UK and other European countries. Please use the specific section of the site to express your interest in helping us.
Finding the dog’s owner
We will monitor the lost and found section of existing websites and will put up posters in the area where the dog was found if possible.
Rehoming
We are not focussing on rehoming dogs in Ireland. Our focus point is on trying to find the dog’s owners or to get the dogs out to rescues. In exceptional circumstances we will also help in rehoming the dog in Ireland, if all the necessary requirements are met.
Funding
Our activity is financed with donations from the public. We are currently accepting donations via paypal. Please click here to donate via paypal. More details on funding options will be posted as soon as possible.
